Black Foster, IF Design Award Winner 2019 - Light & Life | Jokerlight

Black Foster, IF Design Award Winner 2019

Black Foster was a winner of this year’s iF DESIGN AWARD, a world-renowned design prize. The winning product, won in the discipline Lighting, in the Product category. Each year, the world’s oldest independent design organization, Hannover-based iF International Forum Design GmbH, organizes the iF DESIGN AWARD.

Black Foster, designed by Jokerlight Product Manager -Rubén Saldaña-, is the lighting fixture that transfers the applauded “Invisible Black” effect to a linear system.

Black Foster is composed of a series of combinable modules enabling the alternation of segments with light emission and without light emission. However, whether it is ON or OFF, this luminaire always keeps the aesthetics of a perfect dark line. To the observer, it is impossible to distinguish between Black Foster parts that emit light from those that don’t.

Black Foster won over the 67-member jury, made up of independent experts from all over the world. The competition was intense: over 6,400 entries were submitted from 50 countries in hopes of receiving the seal of quality.
